AT&T Rated Worst Network Carrier; Sprint better than Verizon Details Comparison

network
The Recent smartphones era raised a bar in Network Capabilities and Service. High end devices and phones with better connectivity options need a better network Carrier. Most of you people are not satisfied by the service or speed offered by their Carriers. Consumer Reports conducted a survey from 58,000 of its readers and found that AT&T was the only carrier to have a drop in its ratings in overall satisfaction. Over half of the respondents on AT&T had an iPhone, and they were much less satisfied with data service than their smartphone counterparts on other carriers that also consume similar sorts of data. CDMA carriers Verizon and Sprint bested the GSM side at T-Mobile and AT&T. Surprisingly, U.S. Cellular, which doesn't the entire nation yet, ranked at the top with a score of 82 overall. Verizon and Sprint were neck and neck at 74 and 73 respectively, with T-Mobile at 69 and AT&T at 60.
We take this seriously and we continually look for new ways to improve the customer experience. The fact is wireless customers have choices and a record number of them chose AT&T in the third quarter, significantly more than our competitors. Hard data from independent drive tests confirms AT&T has the nation's fastest mobile broadband network with our nearest competitor 20 percent slower on average nationwide and our largest competitor 60 percent slower on average nationwide. And, our dropped call rate is within 1/10 of a percent—the equivalent of just one call in a thousand—of the industry leader.
U.S. Cellular which serves 26 states, mostly in the South and Midwest beat out Verizon Wireless as the top-rated provider for contract service. Sprint has pulled even in overall satisfaction with Verizon, which has been the clear top provider in recent years since 2003. Sprint even scored better than Verizon in some aspects of customer service.

Verizon HTC Incredible Coming in by April?

htc-incredible

The Verizon HTC Incredible was latest and perhaps the slickest Android handset to date.  According to reports, the phone will have a 1 GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon ARM CPU and 512 MB of DRAM, just like the Nexus One. The CPU will be underclocked to 768 MHz (watch out for an Apple patent on that one). It should be more than enough speed to run most apps, while helping to providing longer talk time than the Nexus One. The phone also has a better camera than the Nexus One -- an 8-megapixel camera with a noticeably larger lens.  The camera makes it just slightly thicker than the Nexus One, measuring in at 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9 mm.  It is rumored to come with a 6 GB of flash memory, a microSD expansion slot, and an FM tuner.  The battery is a 1300 mAh cell. Sources say that Verizon powered this monster handset would be available by April. No details of pricing or official details yet.

Nokia X9 Leaked Images are Fake | Concept Art

nokia_x9_leak_1

Recently a new refreshingly new design of nokia model named Nokia X9 has popped up from Internet. Saying that has features like 1GHz Cortex A8 chipset, 12-megapixel camera with LED flash, HDMI and a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. HSDPA, WiFi and aGPS, along with 32GB of onboard storage and a 3.5mm headphone socket.  The Symbian^4 device is expected to be capable of 720p HD video recording, and has some nifty social networking status updates too – along the bottom of that sizeable display run a series of icons for Twitter, Facebook, calls and messages, with a number indicating how many are unread or unanswered.

All the above features mentioned and published over internet is a mere hoax. They are just a concept art of two artists. Very good work out there hope nokia will consider that.

Apple iPhone OS 4.0 to Enable Multitasking

iPhone-OS-4011

After jailbreaking the system, the iPhone OS security model is compromised via an exploit, allowing the user to launch and run multiple applications. This also breaches the door to both malware and widespread piracy, both of which have been contained by the default security system put in place by Apple. While this has resulted in a secure platform and a commercially viable App Store for both users and developers, many vocal critics have cited a variety of examples of apps or features that can't work within these constrains. Among these apps begging for background execution are: Pandora-style Internet radio; third party instant messaging features that are available at all times just like SMS or email; and Loopt or Google Latitude type apps that report the user's location at regular intervals.
iPhone OS 4.0
There are a number of ways Apple can address these needs. First is by allowing third parties to launch apps that actually run all the time in the background, just like the bundled Mail, SMS, iPod, or Voice Memos.
This isn't a technical problem for the multitasking iPhone OS, but does introduce new issues for users. Because the iPhone OS doesn't present a conventional windowing user interface, launching multiple apps requires the addition of a new interface mechanism that allows users to intuitively switch between apps without introducing too much new complexity. Today's Android users similarly find themselves diddling with resource and memory management to optimize battery life and performance. Existing background-capable apps in iPhone 3.x paint a bar across the top of the screen that allows the user to return to that background app (such as a phone call, voice memo, or Nike+ session) when finished with their secondary foreground app. But that solution isn't going to scale to multiple apps all running at once.
Other multitasking issues to fix
In addition to a new graphical interface for switching (handled by the Dock in Mac OS X), a multitasking third party app model would also require a way for apps to communicate with each other or prioritize resource allocation. One reason why the iPhone and iPod touch are emerging as a successful mobile games platform is due to the fact that the iPhone OS' one-app model means that games can be more complex and sophisticated and yet still perform well on a mobile device.
Gaming has largely failed to take off on other mobile platforms because titles are limited to simplistic experiences, as they must either run in a poorly-performing layer of abstraction (such as the Adobe Flash/Flash Lite, Microsoft Silverlight, or Sun Java/Android Dalvik runtimes), or target a native platform that lacks an installed base big enough to attract significant development.
Installing lots of background processes will inevitably eat up battery life and performance, so adding multitasking features that are valuable without creating a mess for users to deal with requires solving a variety of non-obvious problems that are very apparent on other mobile platforms that claim to deliver functional multitasking. More system RAM and faster processors will also help to improve the experience of users who want to quickly switch between multiple apps.

Sony Ericsson Aspen Spotted on Wild Video

aspen[4]

Sony Ericsson has be spotted on the wild on video checkout this below. The Aspen runs Windows Mobile 6.5.3, a more finger-friendly version of the Microsoft operating system. As we mentioned in an earlier post the Aspen boasts HSDPA (3.5G), Wi-Fi, a full Qwerty keypad and touchscreen, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, among other features.

It looks bigger than we thought it would be but it still looks good and Windows Mobile 6.5.3 seems to run pretty smoothly on it.

Chinese designer has presented a concept that is much less interesting. This concept aims to harness the energy that carbohydrates provide soft drinks like Coca-Cola for charging cell phone.

The concept is simple, I made some soda and your discarded cell only water and oxygen.  This design seeks to find the most environmentally friendly way to feed our gadgets. Even the process of making a Coca Cola is not the most environmentally friendly.

Droid 2 or Nexus 2 in the pipeline ?

nexus-two

At CES, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said a new version of the Motorola Droid would come with an improved keyboard, reported PCMag. I haven’t seen the story picked up anywhere else and the article doesn’t provide a direct quote so we’re left without knowing the direct context of the statement.

One would assume that a 2nd version of the Motorola Droid would come as a 2010 holiday followup to the first Droid. And don’t forget that Mr. Jha joined HTC CEO and Andy Rubin during the Nexus One Event, indicating they would also be manufacturers of Google branded/sponsored phones.

We’ve heard that the Nexus Two (Nexus One Pro) will be an “enterprise” device with a hardware keyboard  Andy Rubin supposedly said so himself  so could the Droid 2 become the Nexus Two?

Verizon/Motorola would want to abandon that DROID name but remember it isn’t owned and is only licensed by Verizon. The LG Voyager was a pretty darn popular device for Big Red but they abandoned that name, which was licensed from Plantronics, and instead rolled the brand into their existing enV line as the LG enV Touch.

WiMAX enabled Smartphones Coming to Clearwire

wimax-logo

Clearwire's is the largest WiMAX service in the U.S.,but it's still relatively new. At this point, it is still mostly focused on offering its service to laptops and PCs.

However, those who want a handheld device that can connect to the Clear service can get the Samsung Mondi, a WiMAX-enabled MID. This device sports a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen and a sliding keyboard, but does not function as a phone.

Although Clearwire was willing to reveal that it's going to bring out a smartphone in 2010,  it didn't give any details about this upcoming model, not even who will be producing it.

Some obvious possibilities are Samsung and HTC, who both already make WiMAX-enabled mobile devices.

Unlike typical wireless carriers, Clearwire's WiMAX network is data only, without a voice component. This company has not yet decided whether phones that use its service will offer calls via VoIP software or if they will include support for Sprint's CDMA voice network. Sprint owns a majority of Clearwire, making it the obvious choice as a carrier partner.

Google to sell 6 Million Nexus one units in 2010

Google_Phone_NYBZ172.standalone.prod_affiliate.81

Nexus One has officially launched, along with the far more interesting carrier-independent smartphone store through which it is being sold, what kind of sales can we expect ?

Barclays Capital analyst Doug Anmuth hazards a guess: Five to six million units sold in 2010, based on distribution through T-Mobile at launch and Verizon Wireless (VZ) by spring.

That’s quite a number, considering that Motorola’s (MOT) 2010 global smartphone shipments are expected to be somewhere around 13 million units. And, according to Anmuth, Nexus One sales should allow Google to book incremental revenue of $2.6 billion–$3.2 billion. Not bad for a first retail effort from a company that’s not exactly known for retailing.

Synaptics New Fuse UI for Smartphones

fuse

This is evident by the Fuse, a concept phone created by Synaptics and an international collaboration of interface manufacturers.squeezing, tugging, and tilting their device to operate it.

The Fuse will be on display at CES 2010 to showcase the latest touchscreen and interface technologies, and how they all may blend together for the coming generations of smartphones.

A notable feature is grip sensing. The Fuse is surrounded with touch sensors, meaning users are able to squeeze and caress the phone to execute simple navigation tasks, such panning, scrolling and resetting.

In addition, the fuse features the latest in tilt-recognition and multi-touch technology, and includes on-screen 3-D navigation with sensory feedback on a high-resolution, 480-by-800-pixel AM-OLED display.

Also of note is a touchpad on the back of the device for simple controls. This allows users to plot through the phone’s menus while still having a full, unobstructed view of the screen.

The Fuse will be on full display in early January at CES 2010 at the Synaptics booth, South 4 35364MP.

Year 2016 Bug Fixed | Download | Solution

img_0024

A new bug has afflicted our phones today: text messages come dated six years from now.

So unless something really weird happened last night, we're seeing a nasty bug in our little gizmos. Here's what we know as of now:

  • Messages received after 1/1/2010 may be dated as 2016
  • Effects WM6.1, WM6.5 and even non-Windows Mobile phones
  • It is ROM independent, meaning switching won't help
  • Some carriers seem to be experiencing this bug, but T-Mobile seems fine
  • HTC and LG are aware, but no official response yet

Here's the fix for the 2016 bug, it's already been tested by Sci.

Privacy Screen Filter for HTC HD2

dc mugen The HTC HD2 has a great screen, and also a great viewing angle. In fact, in a bit of informal testing, the text on the screen became illegible due to the obliqueness of the angle rather than any distortion of the on-screen image.

DCMugen notes the screen brings:

  • Privacy Effect: Protect yourself from prying eyes, viewing sensitive information on your device.
  • Intelligent Design: DCMUGEN screen protectors will help block out the elements, protect your device from scratches, scrapes and abrasions that are harmful to your LCD screen on your device.
  • Silicone adhesive coating: No residue is left on your LCD display when you remove it.
  • Anti-Scratch & Durable: DCMUGEN screen protector can be used for a long time without affecting its smoothness and transparency because of the 4H stiffness of the PET material.
  • UV protection: DCMUGEN screen protector reduces the strain of your eyes by blocking 99% of the UV emitted from your LCD display.
  • Ideal Custom Pre Cut: This is a custom cut screen protector, designed to cover 100% of the LCD portion of your phone.
  • 3 Layer Structures: PET Material Layer, Composite Silicon Layer, Electrostatic Layer
  • Washable and Reusable: Easy on and Easy off
Thickness: Enjoy double the thickness equalling to double the protection
  • Horizontal Viewing Area: Enjoy viewing your device in horizontal privacy (does not work vertically but will be viewable)
Easy to Install: Easy on and Easy off. We provide you with how-to guides made by us and valuable instructional material catered to you.
  • Available Different colours

The protector of course has some disadvantages:

  • Reduced LCD Transparent Visibility: With some users, they will find it is harder on the eyes and will take away from the vibrant colors of your LCD screen.
  • Viewing Lines: The privacy screen protector uses micro shutter lines to create the privacy illusion from the side viewing angles. These lines can be apparent and may disturb your view pleasure.
  • Reduced Touch Screen Responsiveness: There may be reduced touch screen sensitivity due to the thicker material in which the privacy screen protector is made of. This is very apparent in the video above.
