Nokia C7 Cons

* No auto focus
* No office document editor
* Symbian OS does no justice to this device could be better.

Nokia C7 is the touch screen mobile phone, a gigantic device being 117.3 x 56.8 x 10.5 mm and weighs as much as 130 grams. It is projected as a business smartphone and comes with wide 3.5 inches AMOLED capacitive touch screen and displays 16M colors in 640X360 pixels resolution. It is powered by high end Symbian 3 operating system. The gadget will be available in charcoal black, frosty metal, mahogany brown colour combinations. It works on finger touch support for text input and Flash 4.0 UI control. Nokia C7 has other features as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto-turn off as well. Nokia C7's curved and beveled edges encourage a comfortable hand holding experience. Made of a combination of plastic and metal, the phone, with its candybar form factor and lack of moving parts, feels distinctly durable and dense. Without the Nokia N8's anodized aluminum chassis, it hasn't quite got that same expensive air about it, but feels durable.

The Nokia C7 has a voice dialing hardware button between its volume controls. This does a pretty good job of calling who you want to call, when you want to call them, however, we found it wasn't as accurate as Google's voice recognition on Android when we directly compared the two. Nevertheless, if you, for example, drive a lot with your phone to hand and want a physical voice dialing button, the Nokia C7 is one of the few phones at the moment that delivers. The Nokia C7 captures video at 3 resolutions, HD, VGA and very low res for multimedia messaging, with its HD 720p capture at 25fps leaving us impressed on the whole. As this phone isn't being heavily marketed as an HD camera phone, it was a pleasant surprise that the results weren't far behind the N8. With the Nokia C7 producing a generally duller video than the Nokia N8, and worse night time capture. The Nokia C7 played back everything we threw at it up to a resolution of 720p (DivX, H.264, MP4 and Xvid), and managed to play it as smoothly. if you're looking for a very capable phone-based video experience and don't feel the 3.5-inch display is too small. Sure this was a top notch phone from Nokia with great media features, but consider Nokia N8 which was 12 Mega pixel and great build quality just a few thousand rupees Extra. you can check the comparison of Nokia C7 & N8 HERE. Also other than Nokia Sony Ericsson Vivaz, Satio, Samsung Wave, and HTC Desire are good alternatives of Nokia C7 at the same range.

The recent multimedia handsets from Nokia are Nokia N8 and Nokia C7. There has been a lot of speculation going round about these handsets features and which one’s better. Although Nokia N8 was targeted to high-end Mobile users with a 12 Megapixel Camera which was terrific. Nearly Nokia C7 was very near to Nokia N8 in Features & Pricing but has a 8 Megapixel Camera and different Build Structure & Quality. The price doesn’t vary much as the difference is a mere 3000-4000/- 90$ USD.

Nokia X2 is price 5500/- inr (indian Market price) 120$ USD approx

Nokia X2 Pros

Excellent Design & build Quality
good display resolution
good audio quality
5 Megapixel for 5K budget is great
good battery life
Adobe Flash player support

Nokia X2 Cons

Symbian S60 version would be great
Minor software glitches
No 3G support

The X2 features a 2.2 inch QVGA display, dedicated music keys, dual speakers, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headset jack, FM radio, Nokia Messaging, Facebook integration and MicroSD card support. The phone has a very impressive 5 megapixel camera with Led flash. That seems to be a decent price for a handset of its caliber. Also, this might just be the cheapest 5 megapixel phone you could buy around. The specs are impressive but there are few software glitches in the first lot of mobiles but it seems they have been sorted out in the second.

The Nokia X2 is pretty good as a music device. Internal memory may be extremely limited at 48MB, but there’s also a 2GB microSD card included as standard for your favourite tracks. With support for up to 16GB cards, there’s lots of potential for upgrades too. The 3.5mm headphone jack means you’ll be able to use your own earphones, and the bundled in-ear set are also good. The integrated speakers are loud and remain free from distortion, and there’s a decent FM radio.

The Symbian S40 operating system is easier than ever to use, with links to your favourite apps available at the bottom of the home screen. There are also links to the integrated radio app above that, along with links to your music files, and the Ovi Store. All-in, the Nokia X2 is a pretty good handset for the money.

Latest Nokia OVI Player 2.1 Version Download

The Nokia OVI Player got an updated today and the new version 2.1. Nokia OVI Player (formerly Nokia Music) gives every day a soundtrack. You can organise and transfer the music you love, rip and burn CD’s, discover and download music from Nokia Music Store – seamlessly integrated with your PC and mobile device.

Fixes Done:

re-worked music downloads functionality to make it more reliable. You can now pause and restart downloads from the Nokia and Ovi Music stores. Ovi Player will automatically retry any failed downloads and will also preserve uncompleted downloads on application restart.
With the latest Nokia Ovi Player you now can automatically import your music library from iTunes and all the manual playlists that you created in iTunes (however, iTunes DRM files and smart playlists will not be imported).
also provided a new ‘Play’ control above column headers in detailed view. Simply click this button and all the containing tracks will be added to the Player Queue and played sequentially.
There are new tooltips for tracks in the Playlists and Player Queue. These tooltips are visible when hovering over a track and will show you Artist, Album and Artwork for the track.
We’ve made it easier to select the Music Store for your region (note that you will need a credit card for that region to purchase any tracks) and change the Proxy settings. Just hit F4 key and all this pops up in the Options dialogue window.
The new version is more robust and memory efficient when compared to the previous version.
Finally, also made it possible to hide the start-up screen, so you can carry on using other applications without being interfered by the Nokia Ovi Player.

Nokia N900 Runs Mac OSX 10.3 Amazingly!

The emulator I used was the latest CVS snapshot of PearPC, which to my eye appears to be pretty good quality code, built without problems in Scratchbox. I experimented with the various frontends and finally settled on the SDL one, since support for the mouse cursor seemed to work best there. As in my previous emulation attempts, I used x11vnc to remotely control the mouse from a laptop sitting nearby. And once again the screen size of N900 was slightly too little to run something that expects a desktop-size display.

Nokia 16GB X6 has half the memory capacity of the 32GB version, and it’s also missing the Comes With Music feature. If you think you can live with that, the 16GB X6 has an impressive battery life of 11.5 hours talk time and 18 days of standby, 4.5 hours of video playback and 35 hours of music playback. Of course, Nokia doesn’t cut any corners with cameras on its high-end devices, and this one features a 5 megapixel shooter with Carl Zeiss optics and a dual LED flash — pretty much par for the course on Nokia devices these days. The new X6 also has in-phone video editing capabilities and TV out support so you can watch your amateur cinematography on a big screen.

Nokia X6 comes with a 3.2-inch widescreen capacitive touchscreen and four new finishes: all black, all white, white with pink highlights and white with yellow highlights. Read on to find out what else is in store. Running the latest version of Symbian^1 the Nokia X6 16GB boasts up to 18 days standby time, 11.5 hours talktime (GSM), 4.5 hours of video playback and a whopping 35 hours of music playback! That’s enough time to listen to roughly 12 per cent of the tracks stored on the device. Images are taken care of with a 5-megapixel camera sporting Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. Shooting videos is a joy, not just because of the camera but the TV-out function enables you to watch your masterpieces on the big screen, too. And of course, you can edit your videos right there on the device. The new Nokia X6 is compatible with the all-new Ovi Maps, offering free walk and drive navigation and tons of extras including Michelin and Lonely Planet guides.Gamers will be happy with the pre-loaded games including Spore by EA, Asphalt4 and DJ Mix Tour by Gameloft. The Nokia X6 16GB will be available this quarter.

Nokia N900 owners rejoice, as a (small) software update rolls out today across all territories (where the N900 is sold) and across all variants. The software update will be available as an over-the-air update or with the Nokia Software Update app on your PC, globally within the next 24 hours. Nokia N900 users connected to the Internet will receive a notification in the device’s Status Area that a software update of Maemo 5 is available. This software update prepares the Nokia N900 for opening the Ovi Store – watch out for a separate announcement for the store opening shortly. Its a minor update designed to prepare the set for the upcoming launch of the Maemo-flavored Ovi Store. That's great news for anyone looking for a more unified way to get paid apps on the phone, a significant step towards making Maemo a more consumer-friendly platform than it is at the present. Look for the update to be available globally within the next day or so, both over-the-air and via Nokia Software Update on your desktop.

Mobile Communications bought Hope & Higher living Status – quotes Nokia CEO

Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo told attendees at the International ConsumerElectronics Show that the world's developing economies are places of increasing opportunity and upward mobility, where wealth is being created at an incrediblerate and business opportunities abound - in part due to the spread of mobilecommunications.
"Mobile communication shave played a big role in bringing hope and higher living standards to literally billions of people," Kallasvuo said during a keynote speech Friday. "The trend promises to accelerate in the coming decade, as the power and capabilities of smartphones spread across the globe."
Kallasvuo discussed how innovators, particularly software developers, can join Nokia in its efforts tobe a force for good by helping to accelerate development in these growth markets. He announced the USD 1 million Nokia Growth Economy Venture Challenge - a USD 1 million investment from Nokia to encourage innovators and developers to come up with innovate ways to help people and promote upward mobility around the world.
"We've seen what thatch community can do when it focuses on problems that are also opportunities,"Kallasvuo said. "We want to channel that energy toward improving lives in the developing world."
Kallasvuo noted that there are about 4.6 billion mobile subscriptions among the planet's 6.8 billion people today. "For the majority of the world's people, their first and only access to the Internet will be through a mobile device - not a PC. And this access is spreading very, very fast."
"In China, every month more than 7 million people gain access to the Internet for the first time, and mostly on mobile devices," he said. "This trend shows no signs of slowing. The mobile device has become a necessity for upward mobility."
Kallasvuo announced that Ovi Mail, Nokia's mobile email service that is designed for users whose first email access is via a mobile device, signed up more than 5 million accounts in its first year, exceeding the first-year user totals for Gmail,Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.
Kallasvuo spoke of the importance of understanding every market in which a company does business.
"Business people often tend to lump all of the growing countries outside the West into one category. They call them 'developing countries,' 'emerging countries' or 'emerging markets.' Each of these markets is uniquely different and complex. A one-size-fits-all approach just doesn't work."
Kallasvuo shared the CES stage with Jan Chip chase, whom he described as the "Indiana Jones of Nokia." Chip chase travels the far corners of the world to help Nokia understand how people live and how mobile phones might help them to live better.
"People around the world have shown us that adversity leads to real innovation," said Chip chase. "People in some of the world's most remote and poorest countries have inspired us and amazed us. They know what they need and they find ways to make it happen."
After Chip chase,Kallasvuo introduced the "Progress Project" and Frances Linzee Gordon, one of the Lonely Planet travel journalists who worked on it. For the Progress Project, Nokia invited Lonely Planet to investigate the benefits of mobility, giving complete editorial freedom to Lonely Planet's writers. What resulted was a series of short videos that showed how lives are being improved by mobility.
"My first misconception about this project, was that Progress was merely about technology," Linzee Gordon said. "In fact, it was really all about people. How people are using mobile devices to improve their health, wealth, business and education. My second misconception? Before this project, like a lot of people, I didn't appreciate the potential for a global company to be a force for good."
