The Sony Ericsson Satio body is all made of plastic which - as you probably know if you've been keeping track - we are not too thrilled with. However the plastic used on the Satio is obviously of very high quality and we've no reason to question the handset's looks and reliability. By the way, we can hardly imagine what a load the Satio would have been if it was made of steel or some other metal.
The 12 megapixel camera lens is accompanied by both a xenon and a LED flash, so the Satio is perfectly covered in low-light for both still camera and camcorder mode.
The general build quality of the Satio is quite good and the materials used are both nice looking and durable. The handset feels perfectly in hand and, contrary to what you may've guessed, the thicker upper half of the handset doesn't upset balance and comfortable grip.

The upper back of the phone is slightly bulging, because the 12 megapixel, xenon flash camera is hidden under a sliding cover right there. Aside from the flash, there is LED light to help camera focus objects more easily. We need to point out the second you slide the cover open, both a small indicator right below the camera and the shutter itself start blinking in bright blue, which reminds us of the Cyber-shot lineup again. Naturally, we couldn’t help taking several pictures and you can see them under the camera and multimedia section of this preview. Before we get there, let´s first take a look at the interface that powers the Sony Ericsson Satio.

The interface within the Satio is simply stunning and Sony Ericsson have incorporated some fantastic visuals. When reading a review, this kind of thing can seem trivial but these are the little touches that really make certain handsets a joy to use and set themselves apart from their peers.
 
Sony Ericsson Satio will come with VGA videos, equaling XPERIA X1's achievement. While our early pre-release sample cannot quite handle the 30 fps framerate it gets pretty close and we're confident that this will be sorted out before the handset hits shelves.

The quality of the videos is really great with almost unmatched amount of resolved detail, very good contrast and precise colors. While the HD capabilities of the Samsung Omnia HD still remain unsurpassed, the Satio is definitely among the top contenders for the world title in the VGA category
Connectivity when using the Satio is made easy enough with the inclusion of built-in WiFi while Bluetooth facilities and a USB port makes sharing as easy as ever. The never-ending array of talents displayed by the Satio also includes location-based services such as A-GPS and Google Maps. This was of great satisfaction to me given the fact I’m not that well rounded in terms of geographical knowledge and any help in that area is always welcome!
Sony Ericsson Satio left us happy and waiting for more - we really hope to get a second glimpse of it in a more detailed review once it hits the market. Our first impressions are downright positive and competitors will have to go to extra lengths for a shot at beating it.
The only real gripe I have with Sony Ericsson is the fact that they have undoubtedly produced a well-rounded handset in the shape of the Satio with outstanding talents.
