Motorola CLIQ XT Review | Specifications | Buy | Details

   xt

Motorola Cliq Specifications HERE

The Latest offering From Motorola to Android is The CLIQ XT. The CLIQ XT is basically a T-Mobile CLIQ without the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. That's fine because the keyboard on the CLIQ was not the easiest to use. They have same specifications: a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7201A processor, the Android 1.5 operating system (Cupcake), a 3.1-inch HVGA color screen, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a 5 megapixel camera, a 2GB microSD memory card (expandable up to 32GB) . It runs on GSM/GPRS networks worldwide as well as on T-Mobile's 3G network here in the United States. And Has the same battery life. They also both feature most of the Google goodies you would expect to find on a Google/Android phone like Google Search, Google Maps, GTalk, Google Earth and plenty more available from the Android Marketplace. The CLIQ XT also sports the MOTOBLUR social networking interface and sync service. That means your Facebook, Twitter, etc. info is constantly updated in special MOTOBLUR boxes on your home screens.

cliqxt

Motorola has improved the button layout on the front of the phone by adding dedicated keys for Back, Home, Menu, and Search. A touch navigation pad is located between the buttons and it can also be clicked. The touch pad has a nice textured coating and we had no issues navigating around. Dedicated camera, power, and volume keys are located on the sides of the device along with a 3.5 mm headset jack and micro USB port. Motorola has included Motoblur which is their custom flavor of Android. It offers additional features like social media integration and mobile backup. Newer versions of Android (2.1) now include multi account support and integrate easily with social networks like Facebook. Motorola will roll out some new features for Motoblur when they update to the Android 2.1 firmware. The CLIQ XT also sports "pinch-to-zoom" capabilities like some of the other premium smartphones on the market. Technically It supports multitouch. Beyond touch, navigation is handled by a surprisingly large touchpad located centrally beneath the screen. The CLIQ XT also comes with a copy of Adobe Flash Lite built inside.

               cliq xt moto                                   12

Motorola is formulating its upgrade plans and promises to publish an OS road map for its devices in the near future. Overall, the CLIQ XT's size, weight and new features make this slim smartphone a real contender. Expect the CLIQ XT to cost somewhere in the $129 with a two-year service contract.

    Motorola Barrage Review

Motorola Barrage (3.78 inches by 2.09 inches by 0.96 inch), a bit angular, and its hinge is oversized and sturdy. Rubber patches overlay the plastic skin on the sides and front and rear faces. The phone has a solid and comfortable feel in the hand, and it opens. The external display measures 1.6 inches and supports 65,000 colors. It shows the date, time, battery life, signal strength, and photo caller ID. You also can access the Barrage's music player and scan through your tracks without opening the phone. The dedicated music controls are below the display.

The camera lens sits just above the display. Sad that there's no flash, but you can use the external display to take self-portraits. The Micro-USB/charger port sits just below the Push to Talk Button on the Left. On the right are the voice dialing control, the speakerphone/handset locking key, and the 2.5mm headset jack. The Barrage is waterproof, the battery cover uses a locking mechanism at its bottom end. The microSD card slot is located behind the cover. The 2.2 inch display shows 65,000 colors (176x220 pixels). Though it pales in comparison with 262,000-hue screens, it gets the job done. You can change the backlighting time, the dial and menu font size, and the brightness. The menu interface is available in three designs, and each allows for a degree of customization. They keypad buttons are equally satisfying. We could dial and text quickly and we could use the keys by feel. The backlighting is bright and the numbers on the keys are large. The Barrage has a 1,000-contact phone book with room in each entry for five phone numbers, two e-mail addresses, a street address and notes. You can save contacts to groups and assign them a photo and one of 12 polyphonic ringtones. EV-DO coverage was extensive, but the 3G connection wasn't very fast. It took over a minute to download a 3.7MB song, which is longer than it takes on comparable Verizon phones. V Cast videos also took several seconds to load. Once streaming videos were running, the quality was about average. Though clips never paused or froze. PTT numbers are stored in a separate phone book; you can assign each contact an alert tone and organize them in groups. Essential features include text and multimedia messaging, a calculator, a calendar, an alarm clock, a stopwatch, a notepad, and a world clock. You'll also find USB Mass storage, PC syncing, full Bluetooth with object transfer and stereo profiles, GPS with support for VZ Navigator, instant messaging, voice commands, a voice recorder, Web-based POP3 e-mail, and you can use the Barrage as a modem.also you can use on Verizon's PTT network. The Motorola Barrage will be available online at www.verizonwireless.com and in business sales channels beginning Oct.1 for $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Verizon Wireless customers can add Unlimited Push to Talk for $5 per month per line to any qualifying Nationwide voice plan.

Motorola to ditches Google for Bing Search & Maps on Android Smartphones

Motorola_0bingapp Motorola’s Android smartphones sold in China will see Google search and Google Maps replaced by Bing search and Bing Maps. Devices currently in the hands of consumers or sitting unsold on store shelves will be getting an OTA update. Both Motorola and Microsoft have not announced any specific plans to expand on their partnership outside of China based on “Global alliance”. Android-based phones will have a Bing bookmark pre-loaded and an enhanced search widget with Bing integration - although customers will be able to switch to another default search engine if they choose.

"We believe that consumer choice is one of the most critical components to ensuring a rich and seamless client experience," said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president of software and services, Motorola Mobile Devices. "Motorola and Microsoft have enjoyed a longstanding collaboration and the addition of Bing services to our Android-based smartphones in China is another important step in empowering our end-users."

"Mobile devices continue to be a critical place for customers to access location-based services such as local search and mapping," said Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of the Online Services Division at Microsoft. "We are pleased to expand our long-standing relationship with Motorola to bring powerful Bing location-based services to Motorola's innovative new mobile devices, providing consumers with more choice and flexibility in mobile search."

Search and Maps capabilities through Microsoft will initially be available in China, starting in Q1 2010, through either pre-load or over-the-air updates for devices already in market.

    Motorola New Concept Phone MOTOSPLIT

    motorola-motosplit-render

Motorola has recentely came up with a unique form factor with MOTO BACKFLIP no they a new concept going around MOTOSPLIT. It is Sai to be released in 3rd Quarter. The keyboard keys are inset and probably have no tactile feedback, however, they should be quite easy to use. It looks like the cutouts are pretty finger-friendly, as they contour to the shape of a standard finger. Under those cutouts is a low-resolution monochrome touch screen, one for each side of the keyboard. This is where the finger presses. The contact area is small, but the plastic grid that surrounds it contours to the fingers. The label and function of each key can be changed to suit certain layouts and applications.

The keyboard has multiple orientations. The keyboard can be pulled from side to side for typing on a surface. A small kickstand angles the phone when typing in this manner. The keyboard can also be pulled to the left for a standard landscape layout. There is also a dial-pad layout.

The specifications are slightly different than previously posted. The MOTOSPLIT uses the same processor as the BACKFLIP. Every other spec is almost the same as the BACKFLIP.
